--------------------------- 26th August 2008 Waiting Time --------------------------- Hold on, Wait a minute, not now, not yet. Words that seem foreign in our 2go instant culture. Waiting is something many people aren’t prepared to do any more. Waiting isn’t productive, proactive or profitable. 2do, 2go; that fits in better with our culture. If it isn’t happening, make it happen! I know that more often than not when ever I make things happen because I am frustrated by the waiting, things inevitably go wrong. The bible, God’s wisdom to man has always been relevant in every culture even though it’s message at times cuts across the culture of the day. In the thirtieth chapter of Isaiah, the prophet has a message that is so counter culture but at the same time so relevant to our instant society. Listen to his words of wisdom. 30:15 f ‘The Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Isreal, says “Only in returning to me and waiting for me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence shall be your strength” (Look at how the people responded to it) ‘No, we will get our help from Egypt. They will give us fast horses for riding into battle.’ V18 But the Lord still waits for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for him to help them. 40:31 Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. I find that early in the morning is my best time to wait on him. While the house is quiet, just to sit silently in his presence acknowledging that he is God. He has the best agenda for my day, my life. He knows the plans that he has for us and the most profitable days are days when the unfolding of his plans in our lives take place. My understanding of ‘waiting on the Lord’ isn’t one of doing nothing but one of acknowledging him as The Boss, and fitting in with his agenda. Instead of rushing into the day sit in his presence, see what a difference that makes. --------------------------- 15th August 2008 What a week that was --------------------------- I have just got back from a weeks camping at the New Wine bible week at the agricultural showground, Shepton Malet. Not being overtly crazy about camping, yet a veteran of over forty bible week camps - This year things were going to be easier than they had been on previous camps. We have a new tent - a Bear Six, no less! Kingdom standard, a nice shape a nice colour, made of proper canvas; two bed rooms and room to stand up in. We also have a new trailer to put all our camping gear in so there would be room to sit in the car. Off we go, Sharon in the front, Naomi, Kezier and Melody in the back. More room? I was the only person who had a degree of movement, I could steer and change gear. We were going to car park two and Brown one, that was our site name. When we arrived I knew why they had called it Brown One. The week previous to ours thousands of Joyful saints had camped on the land and with all the rain that had fallen on the show ground it was wet, brown and boggy and the rain was pouring from the darkened sky. Our girls caravan had arrived and we were about to set up all their stuff first before negotiating our massive tent when, Beryl brought us a cup of tea. I knew right there and then, it was going to be OK!
